Project Planning, Development and Management

What is project management?

Project management is the discipline of planning, organizing, securing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of a specific set of goals and objectives.

Why is project management important?

Project management is important because its tools and methods are designed to achieve pre-defined project goals and objectives while honouring the preconceived project constraints such as scope, time and cost. Additionally, project management tools and methods, when used appropriately, can optimize the allocation and integration of inputs necessary to meet the goals and objectives.

What is involved in project management?

Initiation and Planning

Possibly the most critical phase of project management, Conrad Douglas & Associates Limited (CD&A) will invest maximum time and effort into this phase. As the saying goes, “Those who fail to plan, plan to fail”. With that always in mind, we identify the scope and timeline of the project, the stakeholders, resources and budget, as well as attempting to identify as many of the unknowns as possible. This effort is leveraged in order to reduce the amount of risk to you, the client, making sure the next phases go smoothly and that the project is being properly controlled.

Execution, Monitoring and Controlling

Throughout the execution, monitoring and controlling phases, CD&A will constantly monitor these critical areas:- scope, time, cost, quality, resources, communication, and risk.

CD&A will always strive to stay within the boundaries of what the project is attempting to achieve, and ensure that the project is delivered in a timely fashion, within budget, and with the highest possible quality. At the same time, resource allocation and communication play an integral role. All of this is undertaken with an eye to mitigating and minimizing the risk to which our clients are exposed.

Closing

Each project should have a beginning, a middle and an end. The project closing phase includes documenting lessons learned, handing over any and all deliverables, making sure that all payments are made, and an official close out of the project. All of this is done with an eye towards making sure the client’s satisfaction is its highest.
