4.1. Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies
- Environmental pre-feasibility study and risk profile for the EXMAR Consortium’s floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage and regasification facility proposed for Port Esquivel, St. Catherine, Jamaica;

- EIA for the Ocho Rios Development Road Project (St. Ann, Jamaica) for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Construction (Works);
- EIA for various bauxite transportation systems for ALCAN Jamaica Limited; and
- EIA for the extension of the cable belt from Comfort to Barossa, Manchester, Jamaica, for ALCAN Jamaica Limited.
4.4.3. Energy Sector
- EIA for maintenance dredging at the JPSCo’s power barge at Rockfort, Kingston, Jamaica and the testing and commissioning of the Antilles Barge for Florida Power and Light Company;
- Environmental baseline study (EBS) for the JPSCo’s proposed coal/oil fired power plant in Salt River, Clarendon, Jamaica; and
- Evaluation of an EIA for the mining of peat from the Negril Morass, Negril, Jamaica, for use as fuel in a power plant.
- Environmental Impact Statement for a Renewable Based Power Generation Facility.
4.4.4. Heritage/Tourism/Hotel/Housing Sector
- EIA for the RIU Hotel in Mammee Bay, St. Ann, Jamaica;
- EIA for the subdivision of twenty-seven (27) acres of land in Montego Bay, Jamaica for the National Housing Trust (NHT);
- EIA for a proposed sub-division at Sheckles Pen in Clarendon for the relocation of residents for a major bauxite company in Jamaica;
- EIA for a proposed sub-division at Whitney Estates in Clarendon for the relocation of residents for a major bauxite company in Jamaica;
- EIA for a proposed housing development in Belleview St. Catherine, for Black Brothers Incorporated, New Era Homes Jamaica Limited and the West Indies Home Contractors Limited (WIHCON);
- EIA for a proposed housing development at Galina, St. Mary, Jamaica for the NHT;
- EIA for the establishment of the Negril Royal Palm Forest National Park, Negril, Jamaica;
- EIA for the restoration and development of the Roaring River Great House, St. Ann, Jamaica; and

- EIA for KENCASA for the permitted Land & Housing Subdivision at Holland Estate, Martha Brae, Trelawny for 1,385 Residential Lots on approximately 78 hectares (192) acres of land.
4.5. Air Quality Assessments
- Conducted a full IAQ assessment and solved major air quality-related problems for the Bank of Nova Scotia, Kingston, Jamaica;
- Conducted an outdoor air quality assessment as part of an EIA for the construction of a port at JAMALCO, Clarendon, Jamaica;
- Conducted air quality assessments at the Nikolaev Alumina Plant in the Ukraine and recommended appropriate mitigation methods;
- Conducted outdoor air quality assessments and environmental impact of atmospheric emissions from JAMALCO and ALPART alumina plants in Jamaica;
- Conducted an outdoor air quality assessment as part of an EIA for the expansion of the Rinker Braziletto quarry in Clarendon, Jamaica; and
- Conducted an outdoor air quality assessment as part of an EIA for the Treasures of Trelawny Resort Development, Trelawny, Jamaica.
- Conducted a full Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessment for Quasar Department at JAMALCO.
4.6. Water Quality Assessments
- Conducted a quality assessment of water used in a dehumidifier at Caymanas Estates, St. Catherine, Jamaica, for Computer Environmental Solutions Limited;
- Conducted ground water quality monitoring for the detection of pollution at the ALCAN plant, Manchester, Jamaica;
- Conducted a water quality assessment for Berger Paints Limited, Kingston, Jamaica;
- Conducted an environmental compliance water balance assessment involving water quality analyses for Diageo (Red Stripe Limited), Kingston, Jamaica;
- Conducted water quality monitoring in the environs of ALCAN’s plant at Ewarton, St. Catherine
- Conducted water quality monitoring in the environs of ALPART’s plant in Nain, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica;
- Conducted ground water quality monitoring for the detection of pollution from an alumina plant using chemo-tracers and other indicators for ALCAN;
- Conducted a comprehensive water quality assessment for ALPART Limited, Nain, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica; and
- Conducted a water quality assessment as part of an EIA for the establishment of the Jamaica leg (Ocho Rios, St. Ann) of Alcatel-Lucent’s submarine telecommunications cable.
4.7. Audiometric Assessments
- Audiometric assessment of construction activities at JAMALCO, Halse Hall, Clarendon, Jamaica;
- Audiometric assessment of a faulty turbine at the power generation facility of a major bauxite company in Jamaica;
- Audiometric survey for an electricity generation plant in Clarendon, Jamaica; and
- Audiometric survey of a food processing plant in St. Catherine, Jamaica.
4.8. Environmental Monitoring and Evaluation
- Environmental monitoring of construction activities at Norman Manley International Airport, Jamaica;
- Environmental monitoring services for the dredging of the Kingston Harbour, Kingston, Jamaica;
- Environmental monitoring services for the expansion of the Montego Bay Free Zone, Montego Bay, Jamaica;
- Environmental evaluation of the completed Gordon Cay Berth, Kingston, Jamaica, for the Port Authority of Jamaica;
- Environmental monitoring (site inspection, removal and replacement of fiberglass insulation and vacuuming of accumulated soot and dust from air conditioning ducts) for the National Commercial Bank (NCB), Kingston, Jamaica; and
- Environmental sector monitoring for the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
- Environmental Monitoring of the construction activities of the run-off water storage (ROWS) ponds at JAMALCO Rocky Point, Clarendon, Jamaica.
4.9. Institutional Strengthening/Organizational Development
- Developed detailed management plans for the institutional strengthening of the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA) of Jamaica and prepared Jamaica’s first guidelines for conducting EIAs;
- Developed detailed management plans for the institutional strengthening of environmental management in Antigua and Barbuda; and
- Developed an institutional framework for a regional disaster management organization.
4.10. Process and Engineering Design
- Designed a waste water treatment facility for a garment processing plant in Jamaica.
4.11. Closure Planning and Reporting
- Developed a closure plan for the mud lake and holding ponds at ALPART, Nain, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica;
- Developed a closure plan for LASCO Distributors Limited – Consumer Division; and
- Developed a closure plan for five (5) facilities operated by the Jamaica Broilers Group.
4.12. Environmental Remediation
- Carried out emergency post-hurricane restoration work at Rocky Point for JAMALCO; and
- Developed and implemented a number of mitigation measures for the rehabilitation of a guango tree (Samanea saman) located at the Hedonism II property in Negril, Jamaica.
4.13. Toxic/Hazardous Waste Management
- Management of industrial, toxic and hazardous wastes for ALCAN Jamaica Company, Kirkvine Works and its Dairy Farms in Manchester, Jamaica; and
- Management of agricultural, hazardous and toxic waste generated at ALCAN Jamaica Company, Jamaica.
4.14. Quality Management Systems Review and Implementation
- Reviewed and provided comments to the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) on the ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System [EMS]) standard; and
- Developed and implemented the local certification requirements for ISO 14001 (EMS) at the ALCAN alumina plants in Kirkvine, Manchester, Jamaica.
4.15. Aboveground and Underground Storage Tank Handling
- Conducted an evaluation of process effluents and an industrial wastewater survey for the National Water Commission’s (NWC) Kingston Harbour Project, Kingston, Jamaica;
- Assessed a heavy fuel oil (HFO) storage site at Port Bustamante and its carrying capacity for Shell Company (West Indies) Limited, Kingston, Jamaica;
- Remediated contaminated sites as part of an EDDA for Shell Company (West Indies) Limited, Kingston, Jamaica; and
- Carried out a site contamination assessment and decommissioned multiple diesel oil USTs for ALPART Mining Venture Limited (AMV), Manchester, Jamaica.
4.16. Other Environmental Consulting
- Participated in the development of the South Coast Sustainable Development Plan for the Government of Jamaica in association with the Halcrow Group;
- Established small meteorological stations and carried out micro-meteorological studies for JPSCo’s power plant in Salt River, Clarendon, Jamaica;
- Consultancy to the Commonwealth Secretariat on a workshop on EIA Project Planning and Development for four (4) Commonwealth West African States, held in the Gambia;
- Provided an Expert Opinion and Environmental Impact Assessment on the effect of bauxite dust fallout on residential communities for ALPART Jamaica Limited;
- Development of guidelines for the environmental management of alumina production for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Industry and Environment Office, Paris, France;
- Provided a technical review of environmental management of alumina production for UNEP, Industry and Environment Office, Paris, France
- Facilitated a solid waste management workshop for Caribbean nationals for UWICED/IDB;
- Conducted a professional document review and developed recommendations for polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) management in Jamaica;
- Carried out an assessment of a plan to store spent power plant stack gas scrubbing material in Jamaica for Jamaica Bauxite Mining Limited (JBML);
- Prepared the following sections of the Jamaica Country Environmental Profile (CEP):-
